A resolution honoring the life of former Councilmember Tony Tenpenny.

WHEREAS, former Metro Councilmember Tony Tenpenny passed away on September 19, 2020, as a result of complications from COVID-19; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Tenpenny served on the Metro Council between 2011-2015 representing Council District 16; and

WHEREAS, a graduate of Glencliff High School, Mr. Tenpenny lived and worked in Nashville throughout his career; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Tenpenny worked for US Airways at Nashville’s BNA airport from 1984-1999, and joined Crown Ford located in Berry Hill from 2002-2013; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Tenpenny spent the last 25 years helping people overcome their challenges with substance abuse by serving as a volunteer at the Cumberland Heights addiction treatment facility, and as owner and director of Lee House - Nashville Recovery Residences with his beloved wife Robbie; and

WHEREAS, Tony and Robbie Tenpenny devoted their time, talents, hearts, and recovery experiences into providing safe, secure, and recovery-oriented residency to men and women in need of a hand-up in their journey to renewal; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council honor the life of Councilman Tony Tenpenny and recognize his many years of service to the Nashville community.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring the life of former Councilmember Tony Tenpenny.

 

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this resolution to be presented to Councilmember Tenpenny’s family.

 

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
