A resolution honoring the 30th year anniversary of the Metropolitan Interdenominational Church First Response Center Clinic and recognizing the outstanding service of Reverend Edwin C. Sanders, II, to the Nashville community.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council of Nashville and Davidson County honors the outstanding work and community service of Reverend Edwin C. Sanders, II, for his vision that established the Metropolitan Interdenominational Church First Response Center Clinic in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in 1993; and
WHEREAS, the First Response Center Clinic continues to provide a wide range of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) and substance abuse-related services needed in the community; and works with poor and marginalized individuals who may be at risk for contracting HIV and with individuals who may be less likely not to have access to related health services; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Interdenominational Church's mission is to be "inclusive of all and alienating to none," by offering vulnerable individuals and families access to health care while advancing health equity through its outreach ministries in substance abuse, advocacy for children, sexual violence; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Edwin C. Sanders, II, is the Senior Servant and Founder of Metropolitan Interdenominational Church in Nashville has implemented successful and meaningful programs and provided opportunities for individuals and their families over 30 years; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Sanders has served as Pastoral Counselor for the Meharry Medical College Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program, Director of the Southern Prison Ministry, and Dean of the Chapel at Fisk University; and
WHEREAS, on December 1, 2023, Meharry Medical College will host the Ignite the Night Gala in honor of Reverend Edwin C. Sanders and Billye Denise Sanders, Esquire; and
