WHEREAS, Margaret O. Darby joined the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County as an Assistant Metropolitan Attorney in January 2001; and
WHEREAS, Margaret served in the Metropolitan Department of Law for twenty years, during which time she held multiple positions of increasing responsibility and provided legal services to numerous departments and agencies, including the Metropolitan Department of Finance, the Metropolitan Sports Authority, the Davidson County Assessor of Property, and the Industrial Development Board; and
WHEREAS, in January 2021, Margaret began serving Director and Special Counsel of the Metropolitan Council Office, where she served the Metropolitan Council and Council Office staff during a period of significant change and transition for the Metropolitan Government; and
WHEREAS, throughout her career with the Metropolitan Government, Margaret has been known for her professionalism, institutional knowledge, steady presence, and commitment to public service; and
WHEREAS, Margaret will conclude her service with the Metropolitan Government on December 31, 2025, after twenty-five years of dedicated public service; and
WHEREAS, outside of her work with Metropolitan Government, Margaret is known for her creative pursuits, including a longstanding jewelry business, her involvement in community events and causes in East Nashville, and her enthusiasm for bringing people together through trivia and other shared activities; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Council expresses its appreciation to Margaret O. Darby for her years of service to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and extends its best wishes to her in her future endeavors.
