A resolution recognizing April 7 through 13, 2024, as National Library Week and celebrating the Nashville Public Library and its staff.

WHEREAS, libraries play a crucial role in fostering literacy, providing access to information, promoting lifelong learning, and building community connections; and
WHEREAS, National Library Week, observed annually in April, is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation's libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support; and
WHEREAS, the success of the Nashville Public Library would not be possible without its staff and volunteers, who help people of all ages and backgrounds access and interpret the information they need to live, learn, and work in the 21st century; and
WHEREAS, the twenty branches of Nashville Public Library and the Main Library provide valuable resources for our community, offering a wide range of materials, programs, and services that enrich the lives of Nashvillians; and
WHEREAS, the impact and reach of Nashville Public Library workers extends beyond the library branches to provide access to collections, professional development, enriching programs, and vital resources through meaningful community partnerships with over 140 childcare centers, all Metro Nashville Public Schools, over 30 youth development organizations, dozens of senior centers, and hundreds of community centers and events across Metro Nashville; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize National Library Week and express appreciation for the hard work and dedication of the Nashville Public Library staff.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as recognizing April 7 through 13, 2024, as National Library Week and encourages all residents to visit their Nashville Public Library branch, explore its offerings, and take advantage ...
