WHEREAS, Nashville is known throughout the world as Music City, a place where songs, stories, and traditions are passed from one generation to the next; and
WHEREAS, few individuals dedicated themselves more fully to preserving and sharing those traditions than Bill Cody, whose voice became synonymous with country music, the Grand Ole Opry, and the spirit of Nashville; and
WHEREAS, for more than three decades, Bill Cody served as a trusted broadcaster, storyteller, interviewer, and ambassador for country music through his work with WSM Radio, the Grand Ole Opry, and the nationally recognized program Coffee, Country & Cody; and
WHEREAS, through thousands of interviews and broadcasts, he welcomed legendary performers, rising stars, and devoted fans into conversations that celebrated both the rich history and evolving future of country music; and
WHEREAS, Bill Cody possessed a rare gift for making every artist, listener, and guest feel valued, bringing warmth, authenticity, and genuine curiosity to every interaction, whether speaking with a Country Music Hall of Fame member or an aspiring songwriter making a first appearance in Music City; and
WHEREAS, his extensive knowledge of country music history made him not only a broadcaster but also a historian and steward of one of America's most treasured art forms, helping preserve the stories behind the songs and the artists who shaped the genre; and
WHEREAS, his contributions earned him widespread recognition throughout the broadcasting and music industries, including induction into the Country Radio Hall of Fame. However, his impact extended far beyond awards and accolades and is most obvious through the relationships he built and the lives he touched; and
WHEREAS, generations of country music fans came to know Nashville through Bill Cody's voice, and generations of artists found in him a trusted friend, advocate, and champion...
