WHEREAS, AARP is accepting applications for a Flagship AARP Community Challenge grant with an award of $25,000 with no cash match required; and, 

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,   

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     That the Metropolitan Government’s application for a Flagship AARP Community Challenge grant with an award of $25,000, a copy of which is attached hereto for reference, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation is authorized to submit said application to AARP.

Section 2.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

The grant application is for an award of $25,000 with no required cash match. If awarded, the grant would be used to revitalize the Elizabeth Senior Center’s kitchen by updating furniture and enhancing resources and services available to older adults and the broader community in a historically Black neighborhood.
