A resolution approving an application for a transportation alternatives program grant from the Tennessee Department of Transportation to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Nashville Department of Transportation & Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT), to ensure safety and active transportation by providing walking facilities that feel safe, comfortable, inviting, and useful.

WHEREAS, the Tennessee Department of Transportation is accepting applications for a transportation alternatives program grant with an award of $1,000,000.00 with a required cash match of $250,000.00 to ensure safety and active transportation by providing walking facilities that feel safe, comfortable, inviting, and useful; and,
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through NDOT, is eligible to participate in the grant program; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the grant application for a transportation alternatives program grant with an award of $1,000,000.00, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Nashville Department of Transportation & Multimodal Infrastructure is authorized to submit said grant application to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
