WHEREAS, Chef Max Knoepfel was born in Switzerland in a family that was passionate about food and dining experiences; and
WHEREAS, at the age of 15, he became an apprentice in the Swiss culinary tradition and learned classic skills for food preparation and his trade; and
WHEREAS, affectionately known as "Chef Max", he has been with the Music City Center since it opened in May 2013; and
WHEREAS, before coming to Nashville, Chef Max traveled the world honing his craft working in luxury hotels in Europe, Canada, and the United States. He has previously worked for Intercontinental Hotel, Hilton Hotels, Canadian National Hotel, Pentagon Food Services, the International Monetary Fund, Aramark, Anton Airfood, the Westchester Country Club in Rye, NY, and Belle Haven Country Club in Alexandria, VA; and
WHEREAS, Chef Max has embraced the LEED Certified Music City Center by using fresh local ingredients as a rule, working with sustainable vendors, leading his teams to respect the land, the sea, and the communities it represents; and
WHEREAS, Chef Max leads the 'Bee Team' in harvesting honey on the Center's rooftop, while delighting visitors and convention attendees with artful presentations not often seen at this scale of delivery in the convention and event industry; and
WHEREAS, he is a member of the Nashville State Community College Foundation Board of Trustees and is committed to fight hunger and volunteers on many opportunities to further people, students, and the community he lives in; and
WHEREAS, this year, Chef Max was awarded the Silver Plate Award from the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association in the Travel & Leisure category; and
WHEREAS, this year marked the 69th annual Silver Plate Awards, which is the industry's most iconic foodservice celebration; and
