A resolution recognizing Purity Dairy's 100th Anniversary.

body
WHEREAS, Purity Dairy, formerly known as Ezell's Dairy, is a Nashville-based dairy company that provides more than 100 products throughout Tennessee, Alabama, and Kentucky; and
WHEREAS, back in 1925, Miles Ezell was working for the Nashville Pure Milk Company, when he was approached with an offer to buy the company operation. He did and created Ezell's Dairy; and
WHEREAS, through the years Ezell's Dairy continued to grow while overcoming setbacks, even during the Great Depression. For example, Ezell's farm was condemned due to airport expansion in 1945. This turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as Mr. Ezell was able to secure a government-backed loan, merge with other dairies and change the business' name to Purity Dairies; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ezell was extremely particular about the quality of his products and was a driving force behind many innovative operations and packaging breakthroughs, including vacuum pasteurization, non-wax milk cartons and the yellow plastic jug that helps keep products fresh; and
WHEREAS, in the decades to come, Purity became the largest dairy in Nashville, continuing to expand, develop new technologies, and promote its products through advertising with characters like Sgt. Glory and Ernest, both played by Nashville actor Jim Varney; and
WHEREAS, as Nashville's neighborhood dairy, the Ezell Family and Purity has remained committed to providing families with fresh, delicious dairy for a century; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize and celebrate the 100th anniversary of Purity Dairy.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Ezell Family and Purity Dairy as they celebrate 100 years of providing fresh, wholesome and delicious dairy products to families throughout Tennessee, Alabam...
