WHEREAS, International Firefighters' Day is observed annually on May 4th to honor the sacrifices and dedication of firefighters worldwide, who risk their lives to protect communities and save lives from the devastation of fire and other emergencies; and

WHEREAS, firefighters demonstrate unwavering courage, selflessness, and resilience in the face of danger, exemplifying the highest ideals of service to others and commitment to public safety; and

WHEREAS, the Nashville Fire Department plays a vital role in safeguarding the residents, visitors, and properties of Nashville and Davidson County responding to emergencies with professionalism, skill, and compassion; and

WHEREAS, the men and women of the Nashville Fire Department continually demonstrate their readiness to confront a myriad of challenges, including fires, medical emergencies, natural disasters, and hazardous incidents, with dedication, expertise, and valor; and

WHEREAS, the Nashville Fire Department not only serves as first responders but also engages in proactive measures such as fire prevention education, community outreach, and safety initiatives to enhance preparedness and mitigate risks within the community; and

WHEREAS, the brave firefighters of the Nashville Fire Department embody the spirit of service and sacrifice, standing as beacons of hope and guardians of safety in times of need; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize International Firefighters' Day and the important and courageous work of the firefighters of the Nashville Fire Department.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
