An ordinance amending Section 4.40.050 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws relative to the procurement code and the requirement for the purchasing agent to report the recycled paper usage efforts.

WHEREAS, Ordinance No. O92-210, adopted by the Metropolitan Council on April 21, 1992, adopted the 1992 procurement code, which included a declaration of policy that the Metropolitan Government use recycled paper to the extent feasible and possible and that the Purchasing Agent submit an annual report concerning the efforts toward that goal to the Metropolitan Council and the Procurement Standards Board; and
WHEREAS, in the thirty-three intervening years, the production of most if not all office paper is recycled and therefore it is fitting and proper to declare that the goal of using recycled paper has been met and the requirement to report efforts to the Metropolitan Council and the Procurement Standards Board should be eliminated.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That Section 4.40.050.C is hereby amended by deleting the section in its entirety.
Section 2. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This ordinance amends the Procurement Code by eliminating the requirement for the purchasing agent to report recycled paper usage efforts.
In 1992, the Metropolitan Council established a declaration of policy to use recycled paper where feasible. In conjunction with this policy, Section 4.40.050.C of the Metropolitan Code of Laws requires that the Purchasing Agent submit annual reports to the Council and the Procurement Standards Board concerning efforts toward recycled paper usage goals.
