A resolution commending and honoring Brenda Wynn upon her retirement from the office of the Davidson County Clerk.

WHEREAS, Brenda Wynn has retired from her role as Davidson County Clerk after 14 years of exceptional service in that office. She was first appointed to the office by the Metropolitan Council in 2012; and
WHEREAS, in a subsequent special election, Ms. Wynn became the first African American woman to win election to a constitutional office in Davidson County in 2012; and
WHEREAS, the County Clerk's Office manages and administers motor vehicle registration, business licenses, manufactured home registration, marriage licenses and much more; and
WHEREAS, while serving as County Clerk, Brenda Wynn has implemented solutions to make a visit to the County Clerk easier for Nashvillians. She began a program for online and kiosk motor vehicle registration renewal, cutting down processing and wait time; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Wynn has transitioned the County Clerk to a numbers-based waiting system, allowing residents to sit while they wait instead of standing in line; and
WHEREAS, prior to her time as the County Clerk, Ms. Wynn served as the director of Community Outreach for Congressman Jim Cooper and the inaugural Director of the Mayor's Office of Neighborhoods for Mayor Bill Purcell; and
WHEREAS, outside of her work as the County Clerk, Ms. Wynn has served the community in a many other facets with organizations like the YWCA, League of Women Voters, Nashville Public Radio, Leadership Nashville Alumni Association, Nashville Public Education Foundation, among others; and
WHEREAS, in her time at the County Clerk, Ms. Wynn has worked to build trust in the Davidson County Clerk's Office and has made a visit to the County Clerk a more enjoyable experience in Davidson County; and
