A resolution appropriating a total of $355,000.00 from a certain account of the Community Safety Fund for grants to various nonprofit organizations for South Nashville Community Safety programs.

WHEREAS, Section 7-3-314 of the Tennessee Code Annotated states that metropolitan forms of government may provide financial assistance to nonprofit organizations; and,
WHEREAS, Section 5.04.070 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws provides that the Council may, by Resolution, appropriate funds for the financial aid of nonprofit organizations; and,
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Public Health Department has recommended that a total of $355,000.00 of the funds appropriated for community safety grants in the Budget Ordinance (Substitute BL2024-373), be distributed to the specific nonprofit organizations named below; and,
WHEREAS, the grants will be utilized for services pertaining to South Nashville Community Safety programs; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these funds be appropriated to the specified nonprofit organizations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. There is hereby appropriated a total of $355,000.00 from Fund No. 30164 to nonprofit organizations as follows:
a) $137,000.00 to the Contributor, Inc. to implement a website to improve access to resources for people experiencing homelessness and poverty and to expand a resource guide to include over 300 mainstream services; and,
b) $80,000.00 to Youth Encouragement Services, Inc. to provide comprehensive services that support whole-child development and advance youth development through meeting basic needs and direct program service hours; and,
c) $113,000.00 to Rocketown of Middle Tennessee to implement a drop-in program, Student Night Lights, for at-risk teens designed to provide a safe and welcoming environment where youth can find peace, ...
