BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That Section 2.08.030 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws is hereby amended by deleting it in its entirety and replacing it as follows:
2.08.030 - Budget-Copies supplied-Contents
A. The metropolitan mayor shall, upon filing the recommended operating budget with the metropolitan clerk no later than May 1, provide each member of the metropolitan council with a copy of the recommended operating budget, with an executive summary of the budget and descriptive operational and budget information about each department, board, commission, or agency.
B. The metropolitan mayor shall provide each member of the metropolitan council with a copy of the capital improvements budget by May 20. The capital improvements budget shall include an index to provide council members with a quick reference for each individual item proposed in the capital improvements budget.
Section 2. This ordinance shall take effect from and after its final passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This ordinance amends Section 2.08.030 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws regarding the publication of supplemental materials for the annual operating budget and the capital improvements budget ("CIB").

The bill requires the Mayor to provide each Council Member with a copy of the recommended operating budget with an executive summary of the budget and descriptive operational and budget information about each department, board, commission, or agency. The executive summary and descriptive operational and budget information are typically included in an "Operating Budget Book" provided by the Department of Finance during the budget process.
