WHEREAS, Section 7-3-314 of the Tennessee Code Annotated states that metropolitan forms of government may provide financial assistance to nonprofit organizations; and,
WHEREAS, Section 5.04.070 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws provides that the Council may, by Resolution, appropriate funds for the financial aid of nonprofit organizations; and,
WHEREAS, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville is building homes in North Nashville and has also raised funds to ensure the Parkwood Community historic ballfields remain a cornerstone of this community and amenities such as green space are available to everyone who calls this area home; and,
WHEREAS, a $200,000.00 grant to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville to renovate the historic Parkwood Community Club ballfields, funded through an American Rescue Funds Act allocation would ensure completion of the ballfields project; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these funds be appropriated to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That $200,000.00 from the American Rescue Plan Act Fund #30216 is hereby appropriated to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville to renovate the historic Parkwood Community Club ballfields as described in Exhibit A attached hereto.
Section 2. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
