A resolution approving a grant application for the Recycling and Education Outreach grant from the United States Environmental Protection Agency to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Department of Water and Sewerage Services, to develop multilingual outreach tools focused on reducing contamination, increasing participation and improving community engagement.

WHEREAS, The United States Bipartisan Infrastructure Law provides $75 million total from Fiscal Year 2022 to Fiscal Year 2026 for grants to fund a new Recycling Education and Outreach Grant Program; and,
WHEREAS, the United States Environmental Protection Agency, is accepting applications for the Recycling Education and Outreach Grant, with the award of $285,530.00 and an in-kind match of $172,225.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to M.C.L. 2.08.045, this application has been signed by the Mayor and submitted to the United States Environmental Protection Agency contingent upon Council approval; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVISION COUNTY:
Section 1: That the Metropolitan Government's application for the Recycling Education and Outreach Grant, with an award of $285,530.00 and an in-kind match of $172,225.00, a copy of which if attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and is authorized to be submitted to the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
Section 2: That this resolution shall take effect from and after its passage, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
