A resolution approving an acceptance letter from the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Information Technology Services Department (ITS), to the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TDECD) regarding a Connected Community Facilities grant to construct and improve digital access through the creation of buildings and rehabilitation of existing facilities.

WHEREAS, the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TDECD) has provided an Award Letter and a Notice to Proceed letter to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Information Technology Services Department (ITS), awarding a Connected Communities Facilities grant in an amount not to exceed $1,978,484.36 with a required cash match of $216,175.65 to construct and improve digital access through the creation of buildings and rehabilitation of existing facilities; and,
WHEREAS, TDECD requires the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through ITS, to submit an acceptance letter for the award prior to the processing of the grant contract; and,
WHEREAS, upon receipt of the acceptance letter, TDECD will allow the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through ITS, to begin incurring certain eligible expenses for the project prior to the award of the grant contact; and,
WHEREAS, the permission from TDECD to begin incurring certain eligible expenses is subject to the approval of the grant contract; and,
WHEREAS, upon receipt of the proposed grant contract, separate legislation will be filed with the Council of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County to request approval of the grant contact and appropriate the funds; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this acceptance letter be approved and submitted.
