A resolution recognizing the retirement of Metro Nashville Public Schools teacher Lyndell Edmondson.

WHEREAS, after 44 years of dedicated service to Metro Nashville Public Schools (MNPS) and its students, Lyndell Edmondson is retiring; and
WHEREAS, Lyndell Edmondson is the daughter of Lizzie Mae Barton and Johnny James Barton Jr.; and
WHEREAS, Edmondson received her Bachelor of Science in Education from Tennessee State University in 1976, and her Master of Arts in Education from Trevecca Nazarene University in 1988; and
WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous educator, Edmondson began her teaching career in 1977 at Andrew Jackson Elementary School teaching sixth grade Reading, English, and Language Arts; and
WHEREAS, throughout her teaching career, Lyndell Edmondson was a fixture in the Nashville Public School system, teaching at H.G. Hill Elementary, Ross Elementary, Meigs Magnet Middle School, Bordeaux Enhanced Option Elementary, Lockeland Design Center Elementary, Oliver Middle School, and John Early Museum Magnet Middle School; and
WHEREAS, Edmondson is most well known for her impeccable leadership at John Early as their Museum Curator where she also taught Museum Studies to all its students; and
WHEREAS, in this role as Museum Curator, Edmondson has left an indelible mark on the lives of many students in Nashville. She has given children the chance to lead and have their voices heard as museum curators themselves; and
WHEREAS, Edmondson was named "Teacher of the Year" at Ross Elementary, Meigs Magnet Middle School, Bordeaux Elementary, Lockeland Elementary, and Oliver Middle School; and
WHEREAS, Edmondson was an involved member of the MNPS system and served on many committees including the MNPS Textbook Committee and the Curriculum Revision Committee. She was a Team Leader, Grade Level Leader, Subject Chair, Principal Designee, Distinguished Educator, and a Career Ladder III Teacher; and
