A resolution recognizing the Metropolitan Department of Finance, Division of Purchases, for being designated a Quality Public Procurement Department by NIGP: The Institute for Government Procurement.

WHEREAS, NIGP: The Institute for Public Procurement is the preeminent professional body governing all public purchasing organizations across the United States and Canada; and
WHEREAS, the Quality Public Procurement Department designation offered by NIGP is a value-driven self-assessment for procurement organizations as they move along the pathway to organizational maturity; and
WHEREAS, during the application process, organizations identify their codes, ordinances, regulations, policies, statutes, and business practices related to procurement activities; and
WHEREAS, during the application process, organizations assess the extent to which the organization employs industry best practices; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Finance, Division of Purchases, began the process toward this accreditation in 2020; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Finance, Division of Purchases, having met 107 of 125 criteria for excellence, received this agency accreditation on June 30, 2025, and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government joins an elite group of only 36 public entities across the United States and Canada to achieve this designation.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Division of Purchases of the Metropolitan Department of Finance for being designated a Quality Public Procurement Department by NIGP: The Institute for Government Procurement.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
