Agenda Analysis

Analysis

This resolution approves amendment one to a Healthy Start Initiative Grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to the Metropolitan Board of Health. The grant, as approved by the Metropolitan Council pursuant to Resolution No. RS2026-2162, provided partial funding to improve health outcomes before, during and after pregnancy and reduce racial and ethnic difference in rates of infant death and adverse perinatal outcomes.

The proposed amendment increases the grant award by $732,380, from $367,620 to $1,100,000, with no cash match required. This increase would fully fund the third year of the project. The grant term remains unchanged, commencing on April 1, 2026, and ending on March 31, 2027.
