WHEREAS, the United States Department of Agriculture - Office of Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production is accepting applications for the Community Compost and Food Waste Reduction Pilot Projects Grant with an award of $66,000.00 and a cash match of $16,500.00 to reduce food waste going to landfills by piloting a community food scrap drop-off collection program at public Metro facilities; and, 

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     That the Metropolitan Government’s application for the Community Compost and Food Waste Reduction Pilot Projects Grant with an award of $66,000.00, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Nashville Water and Sewerage Services Department is authorized to submit said application to the United States Department of Agriculture - Office of Urban Agriculture and Innovative Production.

Section 2.                      That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
