WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Parks and Recreation Department, previously entered into a grant agreement with the Centennial Park Conservancy to support the implementation of the Centennial Park Master Plan approved by RS2014-1220, RS2015-1556 (amendment one), RS2021-918 (amendment two); and RS2025-1574 (amendment three); and,

WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend the grant agreement to increase the amount of the grant by $698,972 from $5,285,000 to $5,983,972 with no cash match designated for amendment four to support the general construction expenses and pathways for the current improvement project on Centennial Park’s North Side, a copy of which amendment four is attached hereto; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that amendment four be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     That amendment four to the Centennial Park Master Plan Support Grant by and between the Centennial Park Conservancy and the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Nashville Parks and Recreation Department, to support the general construction expenses and pathways for the current improvement project on Centennial Park’s North Side, a copy of which amendment four is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution approves the fourth amendment to the Centennial Park Master Plan Support Grant from The Centennial Park Conservancy to the Metropolitan Nashville Parks and Recreation Department to support the implementation of the Centennial Park Master Plan. This grant was previously approved by Resolution No. RS2014-1220 and amended by Resolution Nos. RS2015-1556, RS2021-918, and RS2025-1574.

 

This proposed amendment increases the grant amount by $698,972 from $5,285,000 to $5,983,972 for the next phase of Centennial Park capital improvements. No cash match is required.

 

The funding consists of: $200,000 for general construction expenses, and $498,972 for pathways from the corner of 31st Avenue North and Park Plaza to the new north-side grand entrance and the one-mile loop trail.

 

The Board of Parks and Recreation approved this grant amendment at its March 3, 2026, meeting.
