WHEREAS, The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee through Nina deClercq’s Borrowed Earth Donor Advised Fund wishes to make a donation to the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Department of Water and Sewerage Services, Waste Services Division, to fund The Composting Initiative for Metro Nashville Public Schools; and,

WHEREAS, a copy of the donation letter is attached hereto and incorporated herein, as set forth in Exhibit 1; and,

WHEREAS, pursuant to Metropolitan Code of Laws § 5.04.120(B), donations exceeding $5,000 may be accepted and appropriated pursuant to Resolution; and,

WHEREAS, The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee informed by the work of the Nashville Food Waste Initiative wishes to fund the full participation of interested schools to continue the progress in reducing food waste in Nashville; and,

WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this donation be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                          That the donation by The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Department of Water and Sewerage Services, of fifty-one thousand three hundred dollars ($51,300.00), to fund The Composting Initiative for Metro Nashville Public Schools, pursuant to the donation documentation, as shown on Exhibit 1, which is attached hereto and incorporated by reference, is hereby approved.

Section 2.     That these funds are hereby appropriated to the Department of Water and Sewerage, Waste Services Division for use in The Composting Initiative for Metro Nashville Public Schools.

Section 3.                          That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution approves a grant from The Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee to the Department of Water and Sewerage Services to fund The Composting Initiative for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools (“MNPS”).

 

The grant from the Community Foundation’s Borrowed Earth Donor Advised Fund is in the amount of $51,300. The funding would allow all interested MNPS schools to participate in a composting project and continue to reduce food waste in Nashville and Davidson County.

 

Metropolitan Code of Laws § 5.04.120(B) allows donations exceeding $7,500 to be accepted by resolution
