A resolution accepting a Strengthening Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce, and Data Systems grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, to create an action plan for Workforce Development addressing eight priority strategies and will involve collaboration among internal and external partners.

WHEREAS, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has awarded a grant, in an amount not to exceed $843,396.00 with no cash match required, to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, to create an action plan for Workforce Development addressing eight priority strategies and will involve collaboration among internal and external partners; and,

WHEREAS, this grant provides additional funds for year four of the Foundational Component B of the grant and restricts funding until the Metropolitan Board of Health updates the CDC on the justification of the additional funds; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     That the Strengthening Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce, and Data Systems grant award by and between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in an amount not to exceed $843,396.00 to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, to create an action plan for Workforce Development addressing eight priority strategies and will involve collaboration among internal and external partners, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2.                     That the amount of this grant is to be appropriated to the Metropolitan Department of Health based on the revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 3.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution accepts a Strengthening Public Health Infrastructure, Workforce, and Data Systems grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”) to the Metropolitan Board of Health to create a workforce development action plan addressing eight priority strategies. This action plan will involve collaboration among internal and external partners.

 

This funding provides additional funds for a grant first approved through Resolution No. RS2023-1955. This funding is restricted until the Metropolitan Board of Health updates the CDC on the justification of the additional funds.

 

This grant is worth $843,396, with no cash match required. The grant period begins on December 1, 2025, and ends on November 30, 2026.
