A resolution appropriating $48,000 from a certain account of the Community Safety Fund for a grant to Black Mental Health Village for South Nashville Community Safety programs.

WHEREAS, Section 7-3-314 of the Tennessee Code Annotated states that metropolitan forms of government may provide financial assistance to nonprofit organizations; and,
WHEREAS, Section 5.04.070 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws provides that the Council may, by Resolution, appropriate funds for the financial aid of nonprofit organizations; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor’s Office has recommended that $48,000 of the funds appropriated for community safety grants in the Budget Ordinance (Substitute BL2023-1867), be distributed to Black Mental Health Village; and,
WHEREAS, the grant will be utilized for services pertaining to South Nashville Community Safety programs; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these funds be appropriated to Black Mental Health Village.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. There is hereby appropriated $48,000 from Fund No. 30164 Black Mental Health Village to provide services pertaining to South Nashville Community Safety programs.
Section 2. The grant contract between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and Black Mental Health Village for the amount provided herein and the purposes stated, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution appropriates $48,000 from the Community Safety Fund for a grant to Black Mental Health Village. The Mayor’s Office has recommended that $48,000 of the funds appropriated from community safety grants in the Budget Ordinance (Substitute Ordinance No. BL2023-1867) be distributed to Black Mental Health Village for services pertaining to South Nashville Community Safety programs.
Through this grant, Black Mental Health Village will assist the Mayor’s Office in implementing a program that provides peer support and therapy, engaging and supporting youth, and strengthening anti-violence social norms and peer relationships.
The term of this contract begins on August 1, 2023, and concludes on July 31, 2024.
