A resolution approving amendments to grant contracts with various nonprofit organizations for the provision of services to those experiencing homelessness and to maintain housing opportunities.

WHEREAS, Section 7-3-314 of the Tennessee Code Annotated states that metropolitan forms of government may provide financial assistance to nonprofit organizations in accordance with the guidelines of the Metropolitan Government; and,
WHEREAS, Section 5.04.070 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws provides that the Council may, by Resolution, appropriate funds for the financial aid of nonprofit organizations; and,
WHEREAS, RS2023-2213 approved grant contracts between the Metropolitan Government and various nonprofit organizations including Park Center, Inc., Colby’s Army, Inc., Step Up on Second Street, Inc., Mending Hearts, Inc., and Room in the Inn, Inc., for the provision of services to those experiencing homelessness and to maintain housing opportunities; and,
WHEREAS, RS2023-2128 approved a grant contract between the Metropolitan Government and United Neighborhood Health Services, Inc., for the provision of health services in encampment-based settings and Rapid Re-Housing locations; and,
WHEREAS, RS2025-972 approved an amendment to a grant contract between the Metropolitan Government and Room in the Inn, Inc., for the provision of nutritious meals for newly housed individuals residing in interim housing; and,
WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend these grant contracts to extend the term to June 30, 2026, a copy of which amendments are attached hereto and incorporated herein; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these amendments to the grant contracts be approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That amendment one to the grant contracts between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by and through the Office of Homeless Services, and Park Center Inc., Colby’s Army, Inc., Step Up on Second Street, Inc., Mending Hearts, Inc., and United Neighborhood Health Services, Inc., extends the grant contract terms through June 30, 2026.
Section 2. That amendment two to the grant contract between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by and through the Office of Homeless Services, and Room in the Inn, Inc., extends the grant contract term through June 30, 2026.
Section 3. The Metropolitan Government is hereby authorized to enter into the grant contract amendments, attached hereto and incorporated herein, with the nonprofit organizations listed in Sections 1 and 2.
Section 4. This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
