A resolution honoring Eden Murrie on her retirement from Operation Stand Down Tennessee.

WHEREAS, Eden Murrie dedicated over 29 years of service to the United States Air Force where she achieved the rank of Brigadier General and served as the Director of Air Force Services in Washington, D.C.; and
WHEREAS, during her career she embodied excellence in leadership, innovation, and commitment; and
WHEREAS, a trailblazer, she played a vital role in shaping policies that strengthened national defense and improved the lives of service members; and
WHEREAS, after her Air Force career, Eden continued to serve, becoming a mentor to future leaders, a champion of public service, and a passionate advocate for veterans; and
WHEREAS, her advocacy for veterans is apparent in her work with Operation Stand Down Tennessee (“OSDTN”). In her eight years with the organization, including five as Chief Executive Officer, she led the organization’s incredible expansion in program delivery, service territory, operational quality, and employee satisfaction; and
WHEREAS, Eden’s leadership empowered the OSDTN team to increase their service impact for Tennessee veterans and laid the foundation for that impact to grow exponentially; and
WHEREAS, outside of OSDTN, Eden served as a board member for The Women in Military Service for America Memorial Foundation, Tennessee State Veterans’ Homes, Centerstone Military Services and the Davidson County Veterans Court Foundation. Additionally, she is an adviser for the Nashville YWCA Dress for Success program; and
WHEREAS, Eden is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and has Masters degrees in Political Science and National Security Strategy and a Masters of Business Administration from Vanderbilt’s Owen School of Management; and
WHEREAS, Eden has been married to Jon Murrie for over 30 years and together they have one daughter; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to recognize the tremendous impact of Eden Murrie on the veteran community of Nashville and Davidson County through her service with Operation Stand Down Tennessee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as honoring Eden Murrie on her retirement from Operation Stand Down Tennessee and expressing appreciation for her dedicated service to improving the lives of veterans in Nashville and Davidson County.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
