WHEREAS, Section 7-3-314 of the Tennessee Code Annotated states that metropolitan forms of government may provide financial assistance to nonprofit organizations in accordance with the guidelines of the Metropolitan Government; and,
WHEREAS, Section 5.04.070 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws provides that the Council may, by Resolution, appropriate funds for the financial aid of nonprofit organizations; and,
WHEREAS, the Nashville Public Library has accepted applications from nonprofit organizations to receive funding from the Nashville After Zone Alliance coordinating system for the provision of free and high-quality afterschool and summer programming; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to the passage of the budget ordinance of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for fiscal year 2027, BL2026-1377, including any substitutes or amendments, funds are available for the provision of high-quality after school and summer programming through the Nashville Public Library’s Nashville After Zone Alliance after school and out-of-school time coordinating system; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these funds be appropriated to these nonprofit organizations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. There is hereby appropriated $71,900.00 from the Nashville Public Library to the nonprofit organization listed below as follows:

Section 2. The Metropolitan Government is hereby authorized to enter into the grant contracts, attached hereto and incorporated herein, with the nonprofit organization listed in Section 1 for the amount provided herein and the purposes stated in the contract.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution appropriates a total of $71,900 from the Nashville Public Library to Water Walkers for the provision of free and high-quality afterschool and summer program through the Library’s Nashville After Zone Alliance (“NAZA”) after school and out-of-school time coordinating system.
According to the grant contract, Water Walkers will run after school and summer programming available to MNPS students. The resolution authorizes the Metropolitan Government to enter into grant agreements with the organization detailing the terms and conditions under which the grant funds are to be spent. The grant agreement is attached to the resolution.
