WHEREAS, it is to the mutual benefit of Family and Children’s Service and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, to provide technical assistance for the Affordable Care Act in the form of Affordable Care Act Navigators to screen clients of the Health Department for health insurance eligibility; and,

WHEREAS, Family and Children’s Service and the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, have entered into a contract, attached hereto and incorporated herein, to provide Affordable Care Act Navigators to screen individuals for health insurance eligibility; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this contract be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     That the contract between the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, and Family and Children’s Service to Affordable Care Act Navigators to screen individuals for health care eligibility, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.  

Section 2.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

Analysis

 

This resolution approves a contract between the Metropolitan Board of Health and the Family and Children’s Services to provide Affordable Care Act (“ACA”) Navigators to screen individuals for health insurance eligibility at Metro Health Department locations.

 

Pursuant to the terms of the contract, Family and Children’s Services, a 501 c3 nonprofit Tennessee corporation, will provide technical assistance, supervision, and professional development for the ACA Navigators and will also screen clients for health insurance eligibility for a Marketplace plan, TennCare, or CoverKids and assist with applications for these programs. The Metro Health Department will provide office space, workspaces, and parking for the ACA Navigators. The term of the contract begins April 1, 2023, and continues for five years. There is no cost to the Metro Health Department for the performance of this contract.

 

Fiscal Note: There is no cost to Metro for the performance of this agreement.
