A resolution honoring the life of Veronica Strobel-Seigenthaler.

WHEREAS, Veronica Strobel-Seigenthaler passed away on January 1, 2022 at the age of 83; and
WHEREAS, Veronica was a Nashville native and grew up in the city’s historic Germantown neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, she graduated from St. Cecilia Academy in Nashville and attended St. Catherine College in Kentucky before receiving her bachelor’s degree from Peabody College; and
WHEREAS, Veronica began her lifelong career as an educator by establishing her own kindergarten in her home in the early 1960s; and
WHEREAS, Veronica was known for her enduring passion for classical music, playing the piano, and singing; and
WHEREAS, in the 1970s she began teaching piano at St. Cecilia Academy, where she remained a positive influence over the lives of countless children for more than 30 years; and
WHEREAS, St. Cecilia Academy went on to recognize Veronica as its Distinguished Alumna in 2013 for her devotion to the school and its students; and
WHEREAS, Veronica was married to fellow Nashville native Tom Seigenthaler, who was remarkably born two days before her at St. Thomas Hospital; and
WHEREAS, while Veronica was always an equal partner to Tom, she kept her Strobel name, passing it down to her four daughters and prioritizing their education, aspirations, talents, and passions; and
WHEREAS, Veronica and Tom shared a love for their large and boisterous family, arts, music, travel, and adventure, and created a lively, welcoming home with a revolving door of friends and neighbors; and
WHEREAS, after Tom’s death in 2004, Veronica retired from teaching and continued to pursue her numerous interests including genealogy, historic preservation, recycling, wildflowers and gardening, and her love for animals - especially border collies; and
WHEREAS, Veronica will be remembered for her kindness, confidence, and steely determination; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council honors the life of beloved Nashvillian Veronica Strobel-Seigenthaler.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring the life of Veronica Strobel-Seigenthaler.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
