A resolution approving a Bloomberg Youth Climate Action Fund grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies to the non-profit Cumberland River Compact in collaboration with the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Office of the Mayor, to create a Neighborhood Youth Climate Captains program to offer Nashville youth a way to have a tangible impact on the city.

WHEREAS, Bloomberg Philanthropies has awarded a grant in the amount of $50,000 with no cash match required to be disbursed by the non-profit Cumberland River Compact to awarded project recipients; and, 

WHEREAS, the Cumberland River Compact in collaboration with the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Office of the Mayor, will create a Neighborhood Youth Climate Captains program by executing the memorandum of understanding attached hereto; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     That the grant by and between Bloomberg Philanthropies, in an amount not to exceed $50,000, to the non-profit Cumberland River Compact in collaboration with the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Office of the Mayor, to create a Neighborhood Youth Climate Captains program to offer Nashville youth a way to have a tangible impact on the city, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution approves a Bloomberg Youth Climate Action Fund grant from Bloomberg Philanthropies to non-profit partner Cumberland River Compact. The funds will be used by Cumberland River Compact in collaboration with the Office of the Mayor to create a Neighborhood Youth Climate Captains program to offer youth a way to strengthen their community engagement skills and implement neighborhood climate action projects.

 

The Metropolitan Government will receive no funds through the grant. All funds will flow directly from Bloomberg Philanthropies to the Cumberland River Compact. The grant term is effective March 1, 2026, and terminates on February 28, 2027.
