A resolution approving amendment one to grant contracts with various nonprofit organizations to build the capacity of the Nashville-Davidson County Continuum of Care to address homelessness.

WHEREAS, Section 7-3-314 of the Tennessee Code Annotated states that metropolitan forms of government may provide financial assistance to nonprofit organizations in accordance with the guidelines of the Metropolitan Government; and,
WHEREAS, Section 5.04.070 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws provides that the Council may, by Resolution, appropriate funds for the financial aid of nonprofit organizations; and,
WHEREAS, RS2024-411 approved grant contracts between the Metropolitan Government (“Metro”), acting by and through the Office of Homeless Services, and various nonprofit organizations including Mending Hearts, Inc., the Contributor, Inc., and Park Center, Inc., to build the capacity of the Nashville-Davidson County Continuum of Care to address homelessness; and,
WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend these grant contracts to extend the term to June 30, 2026, a copy of which amendments are attached hereto and incorporated herein; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these amendments to the grant contracts be approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That amendment one to the grant contracts between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, by and through the Office of Homeless Services, and Mending Hearts, Inc., the Contributor, Inc., and Park Center, Inc., a copy of which amendments are attached hereto and incorporated herein, are hereby approved.
Section 2. This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution approves the first amendment to grant contracts between three nonprofit organizations and the Office of Homeless Services to build the capacity of the Nashville-Davidson County Continuum of Care to address homelessness.
The grant agreements approved by RS2024-411 approved four grant contracts to Dismas House, Inc.; Mending Hearts, Inc.; the Contributor, Inc.; and Park Center, Inc. for a total of $1,530,329. The proposed amendment extends the term of the grant for Mending Hearts, Inc.; the Contributor, Inc.; and Park Center, Inc. to June 30, 2026, for the same contract value. The contract with Dismas House, Inc. remains unchanged.
Tenn. Code Ann. § 7-3-314 authorizes Metro to provide financial assistance to nonprofit organizations. In addition, Section 5.04.070 of the Metro Code of Laws provides that the Council may appropriate funds for the financial aid of nonprofit organizations by resolution.
