WHEREAS, the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration, Office of Criminal Justice Programs, is accepting applications for a Statewide Fatality Review Technical Assistance grant with an award of $100,000 with no cash match required to fund and promote a coordinated, multi-disciplinary approach to improving the criminal justice system’s response to sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking crimes; and, 

WHEREAS, the Office of Family Safety is eligible to participate in this grant program; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     That the Metropolitan Government’s completed grant application for a Statewide Fatality Review Technical Assistance grant with an award of $100,000 is hereby approved, and the Office of Family Safety is authorized to submit said application to the Tennessee Department of Finance and Administration, Office of Criminal Justice Programs.  

Section 2.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution approves an application for a Statewide Fatality Review Technical Assistance grant from the Tennessee Office of Criminal Justice Programs to the Office of Family Safety to fund and promote a coordinated, multi-disciplinary approach to improve the criminal justice system’s response to violent crimes.

 

If awarded, this grant would provide funding for the Fatality Review Coordinator as a part of the fatality review team.

 

If awarded, the grant amount is $100,000 with no required cash match.
