WHEREAS, Metropolitan Charter Section 10.104 provides that the Board of Health has the duty to contract for such services as will further the program and policies of the board, subject to confirmation by Resolution of Council; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, wishes to contract with the Mental Health Cooperative to provide expertise and staff in emergency behavioral health care to support the launch and pilot year of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department’s (MNPD) co-response model, Nashville Partners in Care; and,    

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant contract be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     That the grant contract by and between the Mental Health Cooperative and the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, to provide expertise and staff in emergency behavioral health care to support the launch and pilot year of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department’s (MNPD) co-response model, Nashville Partners in Care, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.  

Section 2.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution approves a grant contract between the Metropolitan Board of Health and the Mental Health Cooperative (MHC) related to the co-response model with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD), also known as Nashville Partners in Care, to provide expertise and staff in emergency behavioral health care during the pilot year.

 

The Metropolitan Government will provide $82,284 to the MHC. MHC will provide master’s level clinicians for mental health crisis response and assign to specific police details throughout the county, as well as coordinate with relevant Metro departments like MNPD, the Metropolitan Public Health Department, and Mayor’s Office.

 

The term of this contract is three months, commencing April 1, 2022 and ending June 30, 2022.

 

Fiscal Note: The Metropolitan Government will provide $82,284 to the Mental Health Cooperative for the provision of expertise and staff in emergency behavioral health care to support the launch and pilot year of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department co-response model, also known as Nashville Partners in Care.
