WHEREAS, Section 7-3-314 of the Tennessee Code Annotated states that metropolitan forms of government may provide financial assistance to nonprofit organizations in accordance with the guidelines of the Metropolitan Government; and,
WHEREAS, Section 5.04.070 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws provides that the Council may, by Resolution, appropriate funds for the financial aid of nonprofit organizations; and,
WHEREAS, the Nashville Public Library has accepted applications from nonprofit organizations to receive funding from the Nashville After Zone Alliance coordinating system for the provision of free and high-quality afterschool and summer programming; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to BL2024-373, funds are available for the provision of high-quality afterschool and summer programming through the Nashville Public Library’s Nashville After Zone Alliance out-of-school time coordinating system; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these funds be appropriated to Elmington Elevates, Inc.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. There is hereby appropriated $11,616.00 from the Nashville Public Library to Elmington Elevates, Inc., for the provision of free and high-quality afterschool programming.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Government is hereby authorized to enter into the grant contract, attached hereto and incorporated herein, with Elmington Elevates, Inc., for the amount provided herein and the purposes stated.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

The resolution also authorizes Metro to enter into a grant agreement with Elmington Elevates, Inc., detailing the terms and conditions under which the grant funds are to be spent. The grant agreement is attached to the resolution.
