A resolution recognizing a ceremony of the 20th Anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attack on our country and honoring the memory of those lives lost.

WHEREAS, on September 11, 2021, a patriotic 1-hour event will be hosted by the Bellevue Exchange Club commemorating the 20th anniversary of September 11, 2001; and
WHEREAS, twenty years ago this month, our country experienced one of the most devastating and horrifying events in its history; and
WHEREAS, the event of 9/11 was a series of terrorist attacks against the United States on the morning of Tuesday, September 11, 2001; and
WHEREAS, the attacks resulted in 2,977 fatalities, over 25,000 injuries, and substantial long-term health consequences, in addition to at least $10 billion in infrastructure and property damage, impacting thousands of businesses and individuals, disrupting thousands of lives across the United States; and
WHEREAS, that day serves as a painful reminder as the single deadliest incident for firefighters and law enforcement officers in the history of the United States and is recorded never to be erased in the minds of all those that remember that dark day; and
WHEREAS, in the years following the attack, “We the People” of the United States of America continue to rebuild; and
WHEREAS, it is especially important to remember our first responders and families during this day and time of September 11, the impressions of which America is still healing from; and
WHEREAS, this event, honors and brings education to our children, young adults, students, and citizens. History need not to be forgotten; but looked upon and respected, and hopefully never to be repeated; and
WHEREAS, the Bellevue Exchange Club brings this remembrance ceremony to the Bellevue Red Caboose Park in reflection for America.
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council honors The Bellevue Exchange Club as they recognize the 20th anniversary of September 11th and honor the memory of the individuals and their families and the precious lives lost.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the 20th Anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack on the United States of America and honor the memory of the lives lost.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
