A resolution approving amendment A to a grant from the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, to support activities to protect air quality so that it achieves established ambient air standards.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, previously entered into a grant agreement with the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved by RS2020-187, and amendments RS2020-378, RS2021-721, RS2021-1046, RS2022-1432, RS2022-1743, RS2023-1992, RS2023-2176, RS2023-2259, and RS2024-532; and,

WHEREAS, the parties wish to amend the grant agreement to increase the amount of the grant by $324,324.00 for a new grant total of $2,213,666 and update the terms and conditions of the grant agreement, a copy of which amendment A is attached hereto; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that amendment A be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That amendment A to the grant by and between the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Health, activities to protect air quality so that it achieves established ambient air standards, including for the ongoing collection of data on ambient air concentrations for fine particulate matter in Nashville, Tennessee, a copy of which amendment A is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution approves Amendment A, which would be the tenth amendment, to a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to the Metropolitan Board of Health for the ongoing collection of data on ambient air concentrations for fine particulate matter in Nashville. This grant was originally approved by Resolution No. RS2020-187 and subsequently amended by Resolutions Nos. RS2020-378, RS2021-721, RS2021-1046, RS2022-1432, RS2022-1743, RS2023-1992, RS2023-2176, RS2023-2259, and RS2024-532. The grant period is set to end on September 30, 2024.

 

The amendment under consideration increases the grant amount by $324,324, from $1,889,342 to $2,213,666. No cash match is required for this portion of the grant.
