WHEREAS, Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones, a luminary in the realm of gospel music, has made indelible contributions to the genre, captivating audiences with his pioneering work; and

 

WHEREAS, Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones has been instrumental in revolutionizing the gospel music industry, notably by bringing its soul-stirring melodies and messages to the television screens of America and the world, thereby widening its reach and impact; and

 

WHEREAS, his unparalleled talent, captivating personality, and unwavering dedication have earned him esteemed accolades, including seven Stellar Awards, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and a cherished place on the Walk of Fame in Hollywood, among other prestigious honors; and

 

WHEREAS, Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones's enduring legacy is further cemented by his induction into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and the BET Walk of Fame, commemorating his profound influence and lasting imprint on the fabric of gospel music by holding the title of the longest running cable show “Bobby Jones Gospel” on the BET network for over 35 years; and

 

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper for the Metropolitan Council to recognize Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones’s immense contributions to gospel music and to Nashville and Davidson County.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

 

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Ambassador Dr. Bobby Jones for his outstanding achievements, relentless passion for gospel music, and his invaluable contributions to the cultural tapestry of our city and nation.

 

Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
