WHEREAS, the Nashville Department of Transportation and Multimodal Infrastructure ("NDOT") submitted an application for a $5 Million Dollar Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equality ("RAISE") grant, with a cash match of $5 Million Dollars, for the community outreach, planning and design of the East Bank Boulevard and Greenway project, which will generate significant long-term benefits by improving safety, enhancing mobility, connectivity and quality of life; and,
WHEREAS, the RAISE grant application is voluminous, and its preparation is labor-intensive, requiring extensive input from multiple departments. In such circumstances, the Metropolitan Code permits the submission of the grant application contingent upon subsequent approval by the Council; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor's signature on the submitted RAISE grant application was accompanied by the statement, "The application is contingent upon the approval of the application by the Metropolitan Council, at a regularly scheduled meeting to be held on March 7, 2023"; and,
WHEREAS, NDOT will notify the grantor, pursuant to Metropolitan Code Section 2.08 .45(c), if the application is legally and officially authorized, or will withdraw the application if the approving legislation is not approved by the Metropolitan Council; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
