WHEREAS, pursuant to the lease agreement attached as Exhibit A and incorporated into this bill by reference, the United States of America, Department of the Army proposes to lease to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation, a parcel of property (the "Property") for public recreational activities; and,
WHEREAS, approval of the Agreement will help to enhance the recreational opportunities available for Nashville's citizens.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT EXECUTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE:
Section 1. The Agreement between the United States of America, Department of the Army, and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute it.
Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution approves a lease agreement between the United States Department of Army ("Army") and the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation ("Parks") for a parcel of property adjacent to the Cheatham Lock and Dam for the continued operation of Lock One Park, which is approximately 3.17 acres of the property. This is a renewal of a lease agreement previously approved by Ordinance No. BL2001-676.
