A resolution approving an application for a Connected Community Facilities grant from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TDECD) to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Information Technology Services Department (ITS), to construct and improve digital access through the creation of buildings and rehabilitation of existing facilities.

WHEREAS, TDECD received $30,000,000.00 in federal funds to improve digital access and was accepting applications for a Connected Community Facilities grant (the "Grant"), with a maximum award of $2,000,000.00, with the state paying 90% of project costs, with 10% required municipal matching funds; and,

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this Grant program; and,

WHEREAS, the Grant application deadline was November 2023 and was subsequently extended to December 12, 2023; and,

WHEREAS, ITS has discussed this situation with TDECD, and TDECD has agreed to hold evaluation of the application until Council has approved the application; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to Metropolitan Code of Laws ? 5.04.075(A), ITS requests that the Metropolitan Council approve the Grant application as submitted; and,

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the grant application of the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Information Technology Services Department, for a Connected Community Facilities grant to construct and improve digital access through the creation of buildings and rehabilitation of existing facilities, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved as submitted on December 12, 2023.
