A resolution approving an application for a 2024 Road to Zero Community Traffic Safety grant from the National Safety Council to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Nashville Department of Transportation & Multimodal Infrastructure (NDOT), to end fatalities on our roads by 2050.

WHEREAS, the National Safety Council is accepting applications for a 2024 Road to Zero Community Traffic Safety grant with an award of $85,000 with no cash match required; and,    

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and, 

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved and submitted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     That the application for a 2024 Road to Zero Community Traffic Safety grant, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and NDOT is authorized to submit said application to the National Safety Council.

Section 2.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

If awarded, the grant amount would be $85,000 with no local cash match required. The grant would be used to eliminate deaths and injuries on Metro roads by 2050.
