A resolution appropriating $45,500 from a certain account of the Community Safety Fund for a grant to Pass the Beauty for South Nashville Community Safety programs.

WHEREAS, Section 7-3-314 of the Tennessee Code Annotated states that metropolitan forms of government may provide financial assistance to nonprofit organizations; and,
WHEREAS, Section 5.04.070 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws provides that the Council may, by Resolution, appropriate funds for the financial aid of nonprofit organizations; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor’s Office has recommended that $45,500 of the funds appropriated for community safety grants in the Budget Ordinance (Substitute BL2023-1867), be distributed to Pass the Beauty; and,
WHEREAS, the grant will be utilized for services pertaining to South Nashville Community Safety programs; and,
WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that these funds be appropriated to Pass the Beauty.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. There is hereby appropriated $45,500 from Fund No. 30164 to Pass the Beauty to provide services pertaining to South Nashville Community Safety programs.
Section 2. The grant contract between the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County and Pass the Beauty for the amount provided herein and the purposes stated, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution appropriates $45,500 from the Community Safety Partnership Fund, Fund No. 30164, to fund a grant to Pass the Beauty. The Mayor’s Office has recommended that $45,500 of the funds appropriated for community safety grants in the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 Budget Ordinance, Substitute Ordinance No. BL2023-1867, be distributed to Pass the Beauty for services pertaining to South Nashville Community Safety programs. The programs will focus on mitigating financial stress, strengthening anti-violence social norms and peer relationships, and provide peer support and therapy.
The term of the grant contract begins October 4, 2023 and ends July 31, 2024.
