A resolution approving an application for a Community Based Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Mayor’s Office of Community Safety, to implement programs aimed at mitigating community violence and establish a Community Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative to reduce violence in Nashville.

WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice accepted applications for a Community Based Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative grant with an award of $1,988,190 with no cash match required; and,    

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is eligible to participate in this grant program; and, 

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     That the application for a Community Based Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative grant, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.    

Section 2.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
