A resolution recognizing Fox’s Donut Den’s 50th anniversary.

WHEREAS, Fox’s Donut Den was established by Norman Fox in 1973; and
WHEREAS, Norman Fox opened Fox’s Donut Den while pursuing a doctorate degree at Vanderbilt University; and
WHEREAS, Fox began selling delicious, glazed donuts for five cents apiece; and
WHEREAS, Fox’s Donut Den has continued to feed the community from their current location in Green Hills since 1977; and
WHEREAS Fox’s iconic sign has been a beloved symbol for over forty years; and
WHEREAS, generations of Nashvillians have come together to enjoy Fox’s scrumptious pastries; and
WHEREAS, Fox’s Donut Den has helped to cater numerous community events and has provided hundreds of young Nashvillians with their first job. According to Norman Fox, at least five married couples met while working at Fox’s Donut Den; and
WHEREAS, the Great Recession, COVID-19 pandemic and multiple waves of inflation have all posed substantial challenges to businesses in Nashville; and
WHEREAS, Fox’s Donut Den has not only survived these challenges but thrived; and
WHEREAS, Fox’s Donut Den is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary in June 2023; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council go on record as recognizing the 50th anniversary of Fox’s Donut Den and wish them many more years of continued success.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the 50th anniversary of Fox’s Donut Den.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a copy of this resolution to Norman Fox, founder and owner of Fox’s Donut Den.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
