A resolution approving amendment one to a grant from the Tennessee State Library and Archives, to the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Nashville Public Library, to target library materials to persons having difficulty using a library, provide special services to children and young people, and promote general education support services.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Nashville Public Library, previously entered into a grant agreement with the Tennessee State Library and Archives to target library materials to persons having difficulty using a library, provide special services to children and young people, and promote general education support services approved by RS2022-1625; and,

 

Whereas, the parties wish to amend the grant agreement to increase the amount of the grant by $350,829.00 from $430,500.00 to $781,329.00 and extend the end date of the grant to June 30, 2023, a copy of which amendment one is attached hereto; and, 


Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that amendment one be approved.

 

Now, therefore be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

 

Section 1.                     That amendment one to the grant by and between the Tennessee State Library and Archives and the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through the Nashville Public Library, to target library materials to persons having difficulty using a library, provide special services to children and young people, and promote general education support services, a copy of which amendment one is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

 

Section 2.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

This resolution approves the first amendment to a grant from the Tennessee State Library and Archives to the Nashville Public Library, originally approved by Resolution No. RS2022-1625. The amendment increases the grant amount by $350,829, from $430,500 to $781,329. The end date of the grant would also be extended to June 20, 2023. Grant attachments would be replaced to reflect these changes. This grant is used to target library materials to persons having difficulty using a library, provide special services to children and young people, and promote general education support services.
