WHEREAS, the Tennessee Department of Environment & Conservation is accepting applications for a Tire Environmental Act Program (TEAP) grant with an award of $143,246.00 and a required cash match of $51,663.00, for NDOT’s project, Let’s Gain Traction with Vision Zero, which seeks to repurpose tires collected from neighborhood cleanups, illegal dumping, and convenience centers to transform this waste into bike lane barriers that provide safe multimodal options for cyclists; and,    

 

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government, acting by and through NDOT, is eligible to participate in the grant program; and,

 

WHEREAS, it is to the benefit of the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant application be approved.

                        

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

 

Section 1.                     That the grant application for NDOT’s project, Let’s Gain Traction with Vision Zero, for a Tire Environmental Act Program (TEAP) grant with an award of $143,246.00, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Nashville Department of Transportation & Multimodal Infrastructure is authorized to submit said grant application to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.

 

Section 2.                     That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.

The application is for a grant award of $143,246 with a required match of $51,663. If the grant is awarded, the proceeds of the grant will be used towards NDOT’s tire recycling program Let’s Gain Traction with Vision Zero.
