A resolution recognizing the retirement and service of Metro Water and Sewerage Services, System Services Division, Assistant Director Leanne Scott.

WHEREAS, Leanne Scott will retire in May 2023 after serving the Metropolitan Government for over 36 years; and

WHEREAS, Leanne is a native of Jackson, Tennessee, having attended Tennessee Tech University where she received a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. She went on to receive a graduate degree in Engineering Management from the University of Tennessee Knoxville; and

WHEREAS, in 1987, Leanne started her career at Metro Water as an engineer working in the Operations Division managing the operation at water treatment plants to ensure the quality of drinking water provided to the customers of Metro Water, and the operation of clean water treatment facilities to protect the environmental resources of middle Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, Leanne has served Metro Water for decades in roles of ever increasing responsibility having performed hydraulic modeling of the collection and distribution systems, conducted long range master planning to ensure the capacity of the system to address growth and meet fire flow requirements for property protection, overseeing the leak detection and water audit programs; and

WHEREAS, in 2017 Leanne was promoted to Assistant Director of the System Services Division where she has provided outstanding leadership for maintenance and operation of the drinking water distribution system and the clean water collection system, and in the process responding immediately to water or sewer line breaks and emergencies on a 24 hour per day basis, seven days a week; and

WHEREAS, Leanne was awarded the Golden Manhole Award from the Clean Water Professionals of Kentucky and Tennessee, which recognizes outstanding contributions to the management, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of clean water collection systems; and

WHEREAS, Leanne has outstanding professional qualifications, including registration as a Professional Engineer, Grade 4 certification as the Treatment Plant Operator, Grade 2 certification as a Water Distribution Operator, and Grade 2 certification as a Wastewater Collection System Operator; and

WHEREAS, Leanne has served as President of the Clean Water Professionals Association on not one but two separate occasions, and she has been a national Delegate for multiple terms for the Water Environment Association; she has authored multiple papers and made numerous presentations over the years at various conferences; and

WHEREAS, Leanne has received the S. Leary Jones Achievement Award, the highest honor bestowed by the Clean Water Professionals Association as special recognition for many years of dedicated service to the profession and represents the Hall of Fame Award for the Association, along with receiving the Arthur Sydney Bedell Award from the Water Environment Association which acknowledges extraordinary personal service to a member association; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council thanks Leanne Scott for her many years of dedicated service and wishes her and her family all the best in this new chapter.

NOW THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1.                     The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the retirement and service of Metro Water and Sewerage Services, System Services Division, Assistant Director Leanne Scott.

Section 2.                     This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
