A resolution recognizing the Tennessee State University Tigers volleyball team as the 2022 Ohio Valley Conference champions.

WHEREAS, on November 19, 2022, the Tennessee State University (“TSU”) Tigers defeated the Southeast Missouri University Redhawks to win the 2022 Ohio Valley Conference (“OVC”) Volleyball Championship; and
WHEREAS, this is the first tourney crown for the Tigers since 2007; and
WHEREAS, the 2022 TSU Tigers champions are Login Williams, Carla Boudal, Gina Rivera-Ortiz, Johanna Alcantara, Celestial Miller, Alondrah Santana-Rodriguez, Sofia Garcia-Guerrios, Hadley Pride, Aleksandra Rojecka, Sahnee Dillahunt, Rayna Williams, Storm White, Kennedy Davis, Gabrielle Johnson, and Nicole Taylor; and
WHEREAS, the 2022 TSU Tigers were coached to this tremendous win by Head Coach Donika Sutton, Assistant Coach Vicmari Cockrill, and Assistant Coach Michaela Ping; and
WHEREAS, Johanna Alcantara, Kennedy Davis, and Gina Rivera-Ortiz were named to the 2022 OVC Volleyball All-Tournament Team; and
WHEREAS, Gina Rivera-Ortiz was named as the 2022 OVC Volleyball Tournament MVP; and
WHEREAS, the Tigers advanced to the NCAA Tournament, making their second national appearance; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize the TSU Tigers was the 2022 OVC champions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the hard work and determination of the Tennessee State University Tigers volleyball team, congratulates the Tigers as the 2022 OVC Volleyball Tournament champions, and wishes the entire team success in their future endeavors.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
