A resolution honoring the life of Joe Chambers.

WHEREAS, Joe Chambers passed away on September 28, 2022; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Chambers, a rock and roll musician arrived in Nashville in 1978 to pursue recording opportunities and stayed to become a successful songwriter; and
WHEREAS, country music star Conway Twitty and producer Billy Sherrill took Mr. Chambers under their wing in his studio musician endeavors; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Chambers wrote songs for notable musicians such as Tammy Wynette, Emmylou Harris, Ricky Van Shelton, Conway Twitty, and many others; and
WHEREAS, in 1985, Mr. Chambers started a chain of musical instrument stores, Chambers Guitars; and
WHEREAS, Joe Chambers founded the Musicians Hall of Fame in 2006 on Sixth Avenue in downtown Nashville to showcase and honor the touring and studio musicians work behind the big hits; and
WHEREAS, in 2013, the Musicians Hall of Fame moved to its current location at Municipal Auditorium where it also hosts The Grammy Museum; and
WHEREAS, Joe Chambers’ legacy of supporting, honoring, and promoting the behind the scenes work of musicians from all genres will continue through the Musicians Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council honors the life of Joe Chambers and recognizes his unwavering dedication to honoring touring and studio musicians.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as honoring the life and legacy of Joe Chambers.
Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
